Associate in Fine Arts in Visual Arts
Our program is perfect for students ready to channel their creativity into art. Obtain the knowledge and skills necessary to transfer into a Bachelor in Fine Arts (BFA) in Visual Arts program at a four-year institution.
Begin Your Journey
- Receive hands-on instruction in basic digital software, Adobe Photoshop, and Lightroom.
- Prepare a diverse portfolio of original art in various mediums, including painting, drawing, digital photography, printmaking, 2D & 3D design, ceramics, sculpture, and digital art.
- Participate in SCC's annual Art Show to showcase your original work.
Graduates can transfer to North Carolina and out-of-state senior institutions to pursue careers in art education, museum education, graphic design, gaming, animation, painting, and printmaking.

The Associate in Fine Arts (AFA) in Visual Arts degree is designed for students who wish to transfer to one of the UNC Bachelor in Fine Arts (BFA) in Visual Arts programs under the Associate in Fine Arts in Visual Arts to Bachelor of Fine Arts Articulation Agreement (AFAVA to BFA AA). There are seven BFA-granting institutions within the UNC system whose focus is on the visual arts.
