Financial Aid Important Dates

Spring 2025: December 2, 2024

Spring 2nd 8-weeks: March 3, 2025

A completed FAFSA must be on file with the Financial Aid Office (FAO) by the deadline.  Any additional required documents, including verification forms and IRS tax return transcripts/W2s, must be received in the FAO by the deadline.  Applications and/or forms received after the deadline will continue to be processed; however, the FAO cannot guarantee they will be reviewed prior to the payment due date or beginning of the semester.

Fall 2024
  • 16-week and 1st 8-week: September 16, 2024
  • 2nd 8-week: November 4, 2024

Spring 2025

  • 16-week and 1st 8-week: February 10, 2025
  • 2nd 8-week: April 7, 2025

Summer 2025

  • A & B Sessions: June 16, 2025
  • C Session: July 14, 2025

Refund checks will be mailed to students at the on the dates listed.

Students with direct deposit set up will receive their refunds on/around the dates listed.

Students can now receive their refunds through direct deposit. To set up your direct deposit, please follow the instructions below:
    • Log into
    • Click on Banking Information
    • Add an Account
    • Activate (Toggle Button)
    • Next
    • Enter all your banking information, agree to
      terms and conditions, and submit.

Students cannot receive federal or state funding that exceeds their cost of attendance.

Remaining financial aid funds will be disbursed each semester after the Financial Aid Office verifies the student鈥檚 attendance through faculty rosters. A refund will not be processed until all instructors have confirmed student class participation.

Refund disbursement dates are based on the deadlines for attendance rosters, which occurs after the ten percent point of a course.

Funds are not disbursed for courses until they begin, and attendance has been confirmed.

For students without a bank account, please refer to the section below for information on refunds via check.

For students who wish to receive their refund via check, please know all refund checks are required to be mailed to the address on file with the Registrar's Office. We will not hold checks.  To update your address, visit and click "add a new address". Please note it may take up to 2 business days for your address to update on your account.

What is a Financial Aid Freeze date?

The Financial Aid Freeze Date is the point at which a student鈥檚 enrollment status is 鈥渓ocked鈥 for financial aid purposes. A student must register for all courses or make necessary adjustments for the semester prior to or during the drop/add period. For example, if a student registered full time at the beginning of the term and then dropped credits before the financial aid freeze date, the student鈥檚 financial aid is then revised to match their eligibility based on the number of credits enrolled in as of the Financial Aid Freeze Date and types of aid that were awarded.
Credits added after the Financial Aid Freeze Date cannot be used to increase financial aid eligibility. This includes any 8-week accelerated course.

 

What does this mean for a student who receives financial aid?

  • To ensure receipt of the maximum Pell Grant for which a student is eligible as well as avoid having to pay back Pell Grant funds already posted to the student鈥檚 account, students are strongly encouraged to finalize their course schedule no later than the Financial Aid Freeze Date.
  • If the student increases or decreases their credit load before the freeze date, their financial aid may be adjusted, as appropriate, for their enrollment level. If the student鈥檚 financial aid is reduced and it creates a balance due on their student account, the student will be responsible for payment.
  • If the student adds credits after the freeze date, the student鈥檚 financial aid will not be increased. Classes added after the Financial Aid Freeze Date will not be eligible to be counted for financial aid eligibility purposes. The student will be responsible for any additional charges not covered by their financial aid award as of the financial aid freeze date.
  • The student鈥檚 financial aid may be affected if the student is taking courses that begin after the financial aid freeze date. For example, if the student is enrolled in a class that starts after the freeze date, the Federal Pell Grant and other financial aid funds will not be disbursed until after the course has started. If the student fails to begin attendance in all classes, the student鈥檚 financial aid will be reduced accordingly.
  • If a student initially enrolls for the semester after the Financial Aid Freeze Date, the Freeze Date for that student will be the date of their initial enrollment. Therefore, students will want to maximize their aid eligibility by enrolling in all the courses they are planning to take during the initial registration process.
  • The Financial Aid Office is not able to adjust all types of aid after the Freeze Date but will consider special situations. Students should contact the Financial Aid Office before adding courses after the Freeze Date that would affect their enrollment level.
