3.3.8 New Faculty Mentoring
Revised: October 1, 2012
In conjunction with The Center for Teaching and Learning, the Vice President of Instruction will conduct the three-year mentoring process for all new faculty. The Vice President will oversee the new faculty orientation related to policies and procedures, assign new faculty a colleague mentor during the first year of employment, conduct classroom visits for observation and evaluation, monitor student evaluations and chair evaluations related to faculty performance, and make recommendations to the Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs & Institutional Planning for continuation of contracts.
At the end of the three-year cycle, the Vice President of Instruction will recommend to the Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs & Institutional Planning one of three courses of action: transition to Associate Professor rank, continuation of the mentoring process for an additional year, or non-renewal of contract. See Faculty Rank Policy 3.4.
