10.1.1 Security, Traffic Rules, and Parking
Revised: August 6, 2007; October 1, 2020
Campus Security
Anytime a suspicious activity occurs around the campus, the employee, student, or
campus visitor should notify campus security. Witnesses should call Telecommunication
Services (ext. 0) and relay any concerns, and the operator will contact the security
officer.
Automobile Registration
Students and employees are required to register vehicles which they expect to operate
on the campus. To register a vehicle, students and employees should complete the online
vehicle registration application found under Student Resources. The applicants should
then go to the switchboard located in the Dempsey Center to pick up the parking sticker.
During peak registration periods, signs will direct applicants to the appropriate
location. Persons operating automobiles on campus are expected to observe posted and
announced regulations concerning parking. Violators of these regulations are subject
to a fine. Non-payment of fines or repeated violations by students may result in additional
disciplinary action by the appropriate dean in curriculum or student services areas.
Disabled students and employees may obtain special parking spaces. Permits are issued after presentation of appropriate documents (See the Security Office in Wellard Hall.)
Parking
College personnel are asked to park in paved parking spaces in the following lots
which are designated for faculty and staff – Curie, Einstein, Irving, and one row
in Faulkner. The Homer lot is open parking for students, faculty, and staff. Special
parking permits for senior citizens and handicapped individuals can be arranged through
Telecommunication Services (ext. 0). Volunteers may obtain a temporary parking permit
from their immediate supervisor.
The parking sticker should be affixed to the left rear bumper or displayed in the left rear window of the vehicle.
Individuals who persist in parking in handicapped, visitor, or restricted areas will receive tickets. Those individuals who receive five tickets can expect to be towed.
