If you have been considering a new skill or hobby, ²ÝùÊÓƵԴ´ can ensure you learn while having fun. We will offer four-line dancing classes in October. You can also explore culinary courses, bartending, finance, beekeeping, French, and more.
Culinary
"Bartending" will teach you the basics of bartending as a profession or for leisure. Topics include popular mixed drinks, wine, utensils, glassware, fruit cutting, bar procedures, and ABC laws. Held Saturdays, October 5, 12, 19, and 26, from 9 am-3 pm and will cost $75.
In "Let’s Make Pie," you will be in for a hands-on experience creating delicious pies to impress your family and friends! Learn to make (almost) foolproof pie crust while making Dutch apple pie and chocolate cream pie. Take home your creations! This class is limited to 8 students. This class will be held on Tuesday, October 8, from 5:30-8:30 pm and will cost $100.
In "Soft Pretzels for the Home Baker," you’ll learn to make traditional soft pretzels from scratch, paired with a flavorful stout mustard sauce. We'll also explore transforming pretzel dough into slider buns and cheese-stuffed pretzels. Join us for a fun and tasty culinary experience! This class will be held on Monday, October 21, from 5-7:30 pm and will cost $75.
"Can I Make That Gluten Free?" Do you wonder if your favorite recipes can be modified? No more trial and error! Learn the best substitutions to create dishes to be proud of. Make gluten-free parmesan crackers, gluten-free salad dressing, plus a loaf of gluten-free bread from start to finish that is suitable for slicing! Our kitchen is not for those with severe wheat allergies. Held Tuesday, October 22, from 5:30-8:30 pm, and will cost $100.
Hobbies
"Intermediate Beekeeping Concepts" will introduce students to intermediate concepts for beekeepers. Emphasis on anatomy, biology, beekeeping products, honey bee pests, diseases, beekeeping history, and plants important to bees. Prerequisite of Beginners Beekeeping or previous experience. This class will be held on Thursdays, October 3-November 7, from 6:30-8:30 and will cost $75.
Film
"Presidents, Politics, and Popcorn" will celebrate the four cinematic campaign winners—films sometimes fictional and sometimes very real presidents. These Popcorn Presidents espouse an integrity of intent that is too often forsaken in the intoxicating mix of power and purpose that is inherent in the office. This class will be held on Mondays, October 28-November 25, from 2-4:30 pm and will cost $35.
Dance
"Level 1-Introduction to Line Dance" is an introduction to line dance. We will take the time to learn basic steps and patterns to build coordination and confidence on the dance floor. We’ll learn popular line dances done at social events: Cupid Shuffle, Electric Slide, Copperhead Road, and others. After six weeks, you may feel ready to develop your skills further in our Level 2 – Absolute Beginner class. This class will be held on Mondays, October 28-December 9, from 5-6 pm and will cost $50.
"Level 2-Absolute Beginner Line Dance" is for those who've danced the basic line dances at social events and are ready to build on that knowledge. Our instructor will guide you to an improved foundation of dance step terminology, rhythm counts, posture, and dance floor etiquette. You’ll experience a variety of absolute beginner line dances to different genres of music. Leave your inhibitions at the door and join us on the dance floor. The prerequisite for this course is Level 1 Line Dance, or able to dance Cupid Shuffle, Electric Slide, and Copperhead Road. This class is held on Mondays, October 28- December 9, from 6-7 pm and will cost $50. There will be no class held on and November 11.
"Level 3-Beginner + Line Dance" will build upon the skills learned at the Absolute Beginner level. You’ll learn dances suitable for the experienced dancer, with some emphasis on body posture and styling principles. The dances will provide a natural progression of complexity: steps, turns, syncopations, tags, and restarts. This 6-week session will prove to be a good ole time on the dance floor. The prerequisite for this course is the successful completion of the Level 2 class. This class is held on Mondays, October 31-December 12, from 5-6:30 pm and will cost $65. There will be no class held on November 11.
"Level 4-Improver/Intermediate Line Dance" will feature dance routines suitable for the experienced line dancer who has mastered a comprehensive range of step patterns and movements. This 6-week session is intended to satisfy the seasoned dancer with new challenges that will prove fun and rewarding. This class will be held on Thursdays, October 31-December 12, from 6:30-8 pm and will cost $65.
Finance
"Annuities: Myths and Misconceptions" will demystify the world of annuity investing. This course covers fixed, indexed, variable, and immediate annuities, as well as buying and investing strategies. Workbooks and helpful literature are provided. This class will be held on Thursdays, October 10-24, from 3-5 pm and will cost $35.
Language
"French II Conversation" is a continuation of the French Beginning Conversation, and this course focuses on the fundamental elements of the French language within a cultural context. Emphasis is placed on the progressive development of listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Upon completion, you will comprehend and respond with increasing proficiency to spoken and written French and manifest further cultural awareness. Same text as French I. The prerequisite for this course is French Beginning Conversation or prior experience. This class will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-8 pm and will cost $75 plus the cost of the text. There will be no class on November 11.
