Learn how to start, grow, and manage your small business in May. 草霉视频原创 Community College Small Business Center is committed to helping small businesses grow by providing high-quality, readily accessible assistance and support to increase the success rate and number of viable small businesses throughout North Carolina. Experts in the field will guide students through starting, financing, planning, and marketing their small businesses. Unless otherwise noted, classes are free and will be held on the Pinehurst campus in Van Dusen Hall, room 102.

 

Small Business Development Series

 

"Get Ready to Employ" is for small business owners who often bear the responsibility of serving as their own Human Resource department and struggle to understand obligations and laws that govern employee rights and benefits. This seminar will introduce you to the foundational steps to get your business ready to hire, onboard, and manage employees and remain in compliance with rules and regulations. This class will be held on Tuesday, May 7, from 6-8 pm. 

 

"Write a Winning Business Plan" will teach you how to turn your small business ideas into a solid plan for long-term success. Learn how marketing, operations, and finance are interrelated. Discover how a business plan is used by potential lenders and the steps to make the process easy. This class will be held at the Hoke Center on Tuesday, May 7, from 6-8 pm.

 

"Business Tax Essentials" will teach you the basic requirements to help NC small business owners understand the laws and obligations necessary to be tax compliant. Learn about filing and administrative requirements. Learn the basics of NC sales, use tax law, and withhold tax law. Review directions for completing sales tax and withholding returns and for filing and paying online. This class will be held on Tuesday, May 14, from 6-8 pm.

 

In "Business Structures & Registration," you will learn about the various types of business structures and the advantages and disadvantages of each. Discover how to register with the NC Secretary of State, the IRS, and NC Department of Revenue. This class will be held on Thursday, May 23, from 1-3 pm.

 

"Money For Fun" will teach you how to turn your skills into a small business! Learn how to start a business selling supplies for your hobby or teaching your hobby or talent. This class will be held virtually on Wednesday, May 29, from 6-8:30 pm.

 

Owning a Veteran-Owned Small Business Series

 

"Boots to Business Reboot" is for Veterans who have the character, discipline, and skills needed to succeed as small business owners and entrepreneurs. Wondering what it takes and how you can prepare? Enroll in Boots to Business Reboot. Veterans of all eras, Active Duty Service members (including National Guard and Reserve), and spouses are eligible to participate. This class will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 14 & 15, from 9 am -1 pm.
