"Central Sterile Processing" will teach you to apply the principles of sterilization and disinfection in the workplace and the principles of instrument and supply distribution. You will explore preparation, storage, quality assurance, and inventory management. This class prepares students for the CSPD Sterile Processing Technician certification. Held on Wednesdays in the classroom on the Pinehurst campus and 6 hours per week online, from May 22-July 31, from 6-9 pm, this class costs $197.50 plus the cost of the text.
"EKG Technician" will certify those who successfully complete the class as a Certified Electrocardiogram Technician (EKG) with ASPT. Study the anatomy and physiology of the heart, the pulmonary system (lungs), the electrical impulses that make the heart pump and contract, and the segments, waves, and intervals of a 12-lead EKG. Clinical experience will teach the placement of electrodes on the body. Two classes will be offered this summer. A hybrid course will be offered on Wednesdays in the classroom at the Hoke Center and 6 hours per week online, May 22-July 31, from 6-9 pm at the Hoke Center. There will be an additional course offered on Mondays on Zoom and six additional hours per week online with in-person lab Mon. & Wed. in July on the Pinehurst campus, from May 20-July 31, from 6-9 pm. This class will cost $197.50 plus the cost of the text.
"Medical Administrative Assistant" will teach you patient registration, telephone, scheduling, medical records, accounts receivable, data entry, and medical claims. This class prepares individuals for the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) national certification exam offered by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). Two classes will be offered this summer. A hybrid course will be held on the Pinehurst campus on Tuesdays in the classroom and 6 hours per week online, from May 21-July 30 from 6-9 pm. There will be an additional course offered online on Mondays through Zoom and six additional hours per week online from May 20 to July 31, from 6-9 pm on Zoom. This class will cost $275.50 plus the cost of the text.
"NC Community Health Worker" will certify you as a Community Health Worker (CHW) in North Carolina. Upon completion of this training, students will be eligible for listing as a NC Certified Community Health Worker. Held online on Tuesdays through Zoom and six additional hours per week online from May 21-July 30, from 6-9 pm. This class will cost $195 plus the cost of the text.
"Medical Terminology + A&P" is the prerequisite for Medical Coding. Introduction to the study of medical words and terms. Learn basic human anatomy and physiology for all body systems, laboratory medicine, pharmacology, elements of medical terms and names of major diseases, including terms used in physical exams, operative procedures, and diagnosis. Held online, May 20-Aug. 2, with approximately 10 hours per week, this class will cost $195 plus the cost of the text.
"Electronic Health Records" is a new course being offered this summer. Electronic Health Records (EHR) are portable records of a patient鈥檚 healthcare experience. Using a variety of EHR models. Topics include the historical background of electronic medical records, legal/ethical principles inherent to healthcare information, patient flow, scheduling, and call processing and tasking using EMR. EHR Specialists focus on the electronic documentation of the patient鈥檚 care and condition. Qualifies and prepares students to take the Certified Electronic Health Records Specialist (CEHRS) exam. The prerequisite for this class is a high school diploma, or GED needed to take the CEHRS exam. Held online, May 20-Aug. 2, with approximately 10 hours per week, this class will cost $195 plus the cost of the text.
"Pharmacy Technician" will prepare you for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam and entry-level employment. Topics include technical procedures for preparing and dispensing prescriptions, packaging and labeling, controlled substance procedures, inventory control, pharmacy calculations, and over-the-counter drugs. Upon completion, students will be able to perform basic supervised dispensing techniques in a community pharmacy setting. Contact Marta Kane at kanem@sandhills.edu for enrollment approval. "Nurse Aide Level 1 Refresher" is a 40-hour program for those whose listing has expired on the NC Nurse Aide I Registry. Eligible individuals must have completed a state-approved Nurse Aide I program and have a certificate or transcript supporting completion OR Individuals with a state-recognized or military healthcare credential. Contact Marta Kane at kanem@sandhills.edu for enrollment approval. Held Monday-Thursday, May 13-23, from 4-9 pm, at the Hoke Center, this class will cost $130 plus the cost of the text.
"Phlebotomy Technician" will teach you the skills necessary to draw blood specimens in various healthcare settings and blood donation centers. Topics include venipuncture, specimen handling, record-keeping, and the healthcare profession. Contact Marta Kane at kanem@sandhills.edu for enrollment approval. The prerequisites for this course are ENG 111, 112 or WorkKeys Workplace Documents test, current immunizations, and a signed memo of understanding, which are required for registration. Held on Tuesdays and Thursdays on the Pinehurst campus and 4 hours per week online, from May 21-Aug. 1. Classroom time will be held from 6-9:30 pm, and clinicals are Monday-Friday, 8 am-4:30 pm. This class will cost $215.50 plus the cost of the text.
"CPR" is for healthcare professionals who need to know how to perform CPR and other lifesaving skills in a wide variety of in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings. Held on Saturday, May 4, from 8:30 am-12:30 pm, this class will cost $50 plus a $5 card fee. Two additional courses will be offered on May 16 and 23, from 6-10 pm.

Boys & Girls Club
A Boys & Girls Club unit is offered on the 草霉视频原创 campus. It runs from 2:30 to 6:30 pm for kindergarten through fifth grade. The club is ideal for parents/guardians taking SCC afternoon or evening classes, those who need study time, those who need to utilize the computer lab, or those who are working on projects. Club participants will receive assistance with homework, and dinner will be offered. The cost is $50 per child per year. The club provides transportation from McDeeds Creek, Farm Life, and Carthage Elementary schools.
In addition, drop-in services are available free of charge to 草霉视频原创 students from 6-9 pm. This is ideal for students taking afternoon or evening classes, working on group projects, or for other academic reasons. For more information visit sandhillsbgc.org.
