Healthcare
In "Central Sterile Processing," you will learn to apply the principles of sterilization and disinfection in the workplace and the principles of distribution of instruments and supplies. Explore preparation, storage, quality assurance, and inventory management. This class prepares students for the Sterile Processing Technician certification offered by CSPD. Held Wednesday in person and 3 hours per week online, January 10-May 3, from 6-9 pm, this class will cost $187.50 plus the cost of the text.
"EKG Technician" will allow you to become a Certified Electrocardiogram Technician (EKG) with ASPT. Study the anatomy and physiology of the heart, the pulmonary system (lungs), the electrical impulses that make the heart pump and contract, and the segments, waves, and intervals of a 12-lead EKG. Clinical experience will teach the placement of electrodes on the body. This class will be held on Tuesdays through Zoom, 3 hours per week online, and in person for lab on Wednesdays in April and May. Held January 16-May 14, from 6-9 pm, this class will cost $187.50 plus the cost of the text.
In "Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA)," students will learn patient registration, telephone, scheduling, medical records, accounts receivable, data entry, and medical claims. This class prepares individuals for the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) national certification exam offered by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). This class is held in a hybrid format. Mondays are in person, and 3 hours per week are online. Held January 8-May 8 from 6-9 pm, this class will cost $265.50. An additional section will be offered online January 9-May 7, Tuesdays on Zoom, and 3 hours per week are online.
"Medical Terminology+ A&P" introduced students to the study of medical words and terms. You will learn basic human anatomy and physiology for all body systems, laboratory medicine, pharmacology, elements of medical terms, and names of major diseases, including terms used in physical exams, operative procedures, and diagnosis. The prerequisite for this class is Medical Coding. This class is held online from January 16-May 3 for approximately 8 hours per week. This class will cost $185 plus the cost of the text.
"Medical Coding" is designed to provide students with the skills necessary to face the challenges associated with a medical coding career. Obtain the right combination of skills and abilities needed to advance in the various coding positions that are available. The focus of this class is learning the coding rules for the CPT, ICD-10-CM, and Level II (HCPCS) coding systems and then applying the rules to code patient services. In addition, a variety of payment systems is presented. The medical topics of Medicare fraud, HMOs, and QIOs are also reviewed. Contact Marta Kane for registration approval. In "NC Community Health Worker," you will become a certified Community Health Worker (CHW) in North Carolina. Upon completing this training, students will be eligible to be listed as NC Certified Community Health Workers. Offered online, Tuesdays on Zoom, and 3 additional hours per week are online, from January 9-May 7, this class will cost $185 plus the cost of the text.
"Nurse Aide Level 1" will prepare you to work as a Nurse Aide under the supervision of licensed healthcare professionals by performing hands-on patient care. Successful completion prepares students for the State Board examination for NC NA Registry listing. Contact Marta Kane for registration approval. One in the evenings at the Hoke Center, Mondays and Wednesdays, January 8-May 8, class and lab will be held from 3-8:30 pm and clinical 3-8:30 pm. Another will be held at the Pinehurst campus on Mondays and Wednesdays, January 8-May 8, with class and lab from 8:30 am-2 pm and clinical 7:30 am-1 pm. A blended course on the Pinehurst campus will be held in the evenings, Tuesdays and Thursdays, January 9-May 7, with class and lab from 4-9 pm and clinical from 3-9 pm. The final course will be offered during the day on the Pinehurst campus on Tuesdays and Thursdays, January 9-May 7, with class and lab from 8:30 am-2 pm and clinical from 7:30 am-1 pm. This class will cost $205.50 plus the cost of the text.
"Pharmacy Technician" prepares students for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam and entry-level employment. Topics include technical procedures for preparing and dispensing prescriptions, packaging and labeling, controlled substance procedures, inventory control, pharmacy calculations, and over-the-counter drugs. Upon completion, students will be able to perform basic supervised dispensing techniques in a community pharmacy setting. The prerequisite for this course is WorkKeys Math Level 3. "Phlebotomy Technician鈥 will teach you the skills necessary to draw blood specimens in various healthcare settings and blood donation centers. Topics include venipuncture, specimen handling, record-keeping, and the healthcare profession. ENG 111, 112, or WorkKeys Workplace Documents test, current immunizations, and signed memo of understanding are required for registration. Contact Marta Kane for registration approval. Held Tuesdays and Thursdays, January 9-May 9, the class will be from 6-9:30 pm, clinical will be M-F 8 am-4:30 pm, and one Saturday, February 10, from 9 am-1:30 pm, this class will cost $205.50 plus the cost of the text.
"CPR for Healthcare Providers" is designed for healthcare professionals who need to know how to perform CPR and other lifesaving skills in a wide variety of in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings. Per AHA guidelines, CPR cards will be issued to students within ten business days of class completion. Held Sunday, January 28, from 8:30 am-12:30 pm, this class will cost $50 plus a $5 card fee.
"EMT BASIC" prepares students to provide emergency care for the sick and injured. Students will learn to respond to a variety of emergency medical situations. Upon successful completion, the student can sit for the state certification exam. Course requirements: a copy of your high school or GED diploma by the first night of class. Additional costs for course-specific clinicals. Held Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, & one Saturday per month, January 9-May 15, from 6-10 pm, this class will cost $185 plus $5 tech fee plus $31 uniform fee plus clinical fee.

Spring Semester
Continuing Education classes begin throughout the semester. New and returning students do not need to apply to the College; simply register for classes. Spring semester curriculum classes begin January 8. For all information, go to www.sandhills.edu/learn.
New students taking curriculum/college credit classes must apply before registering. 草霉视频原创 has an open-door policy, which means all applicants are accepted. On www.sandhills.edu, new students can find the application at the top right. Returning or current students can register by using Self-Service located on MySCC.
Boys & Girls Club
A Boys & Girls Club unit is offered on the 草霉视频原创 campus. It runs from 2:30 to 6:30 pm for kindergarten through fifth grade. The club is ideal for parents/guardians taking SCC afternoon or evening classes, those who need study time, need to utilize the computer lab, or work on projects. Club participants will receive homework assistance, and dinner is offered. The cost is $40 per child per year. The club provides transportation from McDeeds Creek, Farm Life, and Carthage Elementary schools.
In addition, drop-in services are available free of charge to 草霉视频原创 students from 6-9 pm. This is ideal for students taking afternoon or evening classes, working on group projects, or for other academic reasons.
