Perkins Education Act

Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act

Each year, ²ÝùÊÓƵԭ´´ receives funds from the federal government through the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act.  The purpose of the act is to develop more fully the academic knowledge and technical employability skills of secondary and postsecondary students who elect to enroll in Career and Technical Education (CTE) curriculum programs and programs of study.  

Examples of how funds allocated to ²ÝùÊÓƵԭ´´ are used include: 

  • modernizing and expanding career and technical programs to provide individuals opportunities for high-skill and high-wage employment  
  • reducing access barriers and achievement gaps for special populations and underserved students 
  • providing support, professional development, and leadership development for faculty and specialized support roles
